It is a poster boy case, right? I saw the devil and he wears horns and smells sulfur, so he can't be real. If industry supports TomTom and fights it through the result will be an epic fail of Microsoft. Basically it is very difficult to defend a trivial patent case against TomTom public policy wise. It will be difficult for patent professionals to argue why these patent grant make sense or this is worth to get litigated. Most of the patents are pretty weak. And at least in Europe the automotive industry matters.
Maybe next CII patent war will be launched by Apple against Palm:

If Microsoft wanted to use this as a "poster boy", I'd think they'd pick a weaker opponent than TomTom...
