Collecting private data is done usually for "targeted marketing" purposes. This is why I fill such forms with bogus data whenever possible. I encourage people to do the same, in order to pollute customer databases with useless data and render "targeted marketing" ineffective. This way, maybe some day salespersons will learn to have a little respect for privacy.
