Unfortunately I have very little command of the Danish language. But this, this and that looks as if some "Nordisk Patent Institut" has been founded by Island, Norway, and Denmark. Stll more details might be available under this URL. I was, however, unable to find English information on what the purpose of this Institute exactly might be. Perhaps it is related to my earlier posting there?
Hi Axel I saw your reference to the NPI initiative and decided that since you took the trouble to report on the matter I would draft a summary in English so your readers could see what all the fuzz was about.
About the NPI This Wednesday was an historic day. The Director Generals of the Patent Offices in Norway, Iceland and Denmark signed an agreement to establish a common patent institute, named the Nordic Patent Institute. It is the first time such a close co-operation between these countries is being established in this area.
The Nordic Patent Institute (NPI) will apply for appointment as PCT Authority in September. The effects on the businesses in the three countries are expected to be of some magnitude and it will put the Nordic countries on the international patent map.
"Nordic patent institute to be set up near Copenhagen (2006.07.06)

Denmark, Norway and Iceland will jointly establish a Nordic patent institute which will be located in Taastrup on the outskirts of Copenhagen. The institute will make it easier for Danish companies to apply for international patents. Jesper Kongstad, director of the Danish Patent and Trademark Office says it is a unique collaboration which has never been seen before:
"With the institute, the Nordic region will play an important future role in the European and global patent system. It will be more simple, efficient and inexpensive for Nordic companies to have patent work carried out. Case handling will be of the highest international standard."
The institute is expected to be approved as a Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) authority in September. The PCT system is used when companies want to apply for a patent in several countries. The news was reported by Ritzaus Bureau."
