Thursday, February 02, 2006European Parliament Committee: Hearing on European Patent Policy. noticias.info reports on a hearing held by a Committee of the the European Parliament:"At a public hearing on intellectual property rights held on Tuesday by the Legal Affairs Committee, experts agreed that the current European patenting system is too costly for firms and could be hampering competition instead of boosting innovation. At the same time several speakers expressed doubt about using criminal law to enforce intellectual property rights. My scepticalness against criminal sanctions on acts of patent infringement is already documented  here in the context of a statement presented by CIPA.
